Singer and actor Tyrese Gibson recently made headlines when he offered to pay a young man’s Morehouse College tuition; an act that was graciously accepted by 21-year-old Lorenzo Murphy, also known as the popular Instagram personality “Zo the Motivator.”
Gibson, who is coming off the heels of his own good news (his newest album is steadily climbing the charts) took to Instagram to explain the good deed, citing inspiration from famous radio host Tom Joyner’s foundation, which supports HBCU scholarships.
Murphy, a native of Compton, Ca., thanked Gibson for his generosity, posting a photograph of Gibson and Rev Run as a newly minted “Man of Morehouse.”
“None of this would be possible without God, @tyrese, the support from my family and of course, my relentless hard work. Annually, Morehouse is around 45k-50k and as you can imagine, that is a lot of money. I thank God for placing @tyrese in my life,” he wrote. “It is because of him believing in me and investing in my future, that I am able to receive my education. I am amongst the worlds greatest leaders and I want to thank @tyrese for giving me the opportunity to be pursue my academic and career endeavors at Morehouse College.”
We wish Murphy the best as he matriculates through college.
