This “American Masters” documentary airs today, Tuesday, June 23 at 8/7c as part of PBS’s summer-long celebration of women trailblazers.

This was a great PBS presentation and I realized that I have a lot of reading to do! Although I’m familiar with Toni Morrison, I must admit, I haven’t read any of her work, but that is about to change! Some of the less well known novels will likely prove to be more interesting. As a white reader who wants to become more aware of issues I should have known about before, I am committed to expanding my reading list to include many more Afro-American authors.
