Questioning whether the reality TV singing contests have run their course, rapper, musician, songwriter, singer, entrepreneur, actor, DJ and producer Will.i.am is reportedly working on a new technology-themed talent show that “aims to be an American Idol for young wizards.”
Will wants to create a TV platform that will find young geniuses to develop new products and encourage more children to develop “STEM” (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) skills, suggesting that a TV show that sets out to highlight technology stars would have “a more lasting impact, potentially creating a new product and creating jobs.”“Every year, companies like Google need more innovators, but there is no content celebrating them… The system thinks people are dumb and they don’t care. We have no desire to make them care. We need creative people working with broadcasters, making smart content to inspire people to be geniuses.”
The show hasn’t been developed yet, but Will.i.am said that he’s currently working on it, and is in negotiations with various broadcasters to carry it. He also has the support of tech giant Intel, in this effort.
Will further says that the potential series is “like nothing we’ve seen before,” adding that “It will be great TV and great for society. It’s about educating and innovating at the same time; making content to inspire and to dream up the new future.”

I think this is a brilliant idea. That are no real world examples that show what a proper education can do for you in simple terms. Everything that is popular just comes into being and we accept it without even knowing why it works. If more African American children can be shown that learning at school can lead to creating amazing things then they may start to change their way of thinking.
