Seven African Americans Make Hollywood Reporter’s Women In Entertainment Top 100

The Hollywood Reporter released its Women in Entertainment Power 100 and seven black women made the ranks this year. Oprah, naturally, was the top-ranking African American, at number 18, as the CEO of the OWN network.

Debra Lee, chairman and CEO of BET Networks, was number 23, while Vanessa Morrison, president of Fox Animation Studios, came in at number 27. Shonda Rhimes, creator of Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, and Scandal, has always made a point to bring a diverse cast of characters to the TV screen and was number 47 on the list.

Nina Shaw, partner at entertainment law firm Del Shaw Moonves Tanaka Finkelstein & Lezcano, was number 76, and Lorrie Bartlett, partner and co-head of talent at ICM Partners, came in at number 87. The final black woman on the list is at number 95: Salaam Coleman Smith, president of cable television’s Style Media.

Anne Sweeney, co-chairman of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney/ABC Television Group, was number 1 on the list for the third year in a row, and other ethnically-diverse women were also represented, including Telemundo’s Jacqueline Hernandez (32), Universal Television’s Bela Bajaria (46); and Sony’s Andrea Wong (89).
